Classwork:

Math:

Today we worked on adding and subtracting decimals by finding perimeters of objects with missing values. Students did a great job. They also compared decimals to benchmark fractions proving their understanding of what we were measuring. For example: . 48" is really close to 1/2 inch. Then students demonstrated where that is on a ruler.

Mod 3: We began work for our garden unit. We discussed who has gardens at home? How big are they? What do you have planted in them. Their job in the next couple of days is to measure their garden at home. How many square yards of garden to they have. We will then turn that into what percent of your yard is garden. If they don't have a garden at home the assignment is; if you could create one, how big would it be and where would you put it? We will compare this data in class making graphs and we will compare this to the Hunt garden. There are many more pieces involved in this unit and more details will follow. It is quite exciting.

Mod 4: Language Arts: We are continuing with our reading of Flippped. Today we discussed what candling is and saw a brief video for comprehension. In the novel Juli candles some eggs for her science fair project.

Mod 5: We are working on creating our own fictional organisms that could live in the desert. Students are creating features of these creatures and explaining how these features allow the organism to adapt and survive in a desert environment.

Mod 8: We read background information about the Holocaust today.
